Luca

It was dark. There the darkness and the faded street lamps along the old lane up to the carpet of grass covered by a blanket of grey. The silver medallion hung in the sky, glowing white at the black ocean. The houses were silent. Was there anyone in them? Badgers and rabbits came out to play in the twilight while the foxes and owls lurked in the woods outside of town waiting for their prey. The swish of the wind sprinted over the deserted bridge like a wave of water crashing and washing away an old barn. It was dark.

Very powerful description Luca. Your question in the middle really ensures that the reader cannot escape without finishing reading, and it is clear you thought about the impact of the whole through your use of repetition at the end. The metaphor was superb though I wondered about your use of the word ‘at’ … is there a better word? Fantastic work.
